Bluetooth Vs Wifi

Bluetooth is a way of exchanging data wirelessly over short distances, and is an attempt to do away with your computer’s jungle of wiring. Using a special radio frequency to transmit data, it creates a short range network.

  • Bluetooth is designed to reach short distance to pair devices
  • Provides a cable free connection between multiple devices
  • Does not need access to internet to pair devices
  • Runs on a 2.4Ghz frequency
  • Runs a low bit rate of 2.1 Mpbs
  • Supports keyboards, headsets, keychains, mouses, and even toothbrushes

Wifi is a technology that uses radio waves to provide network connectivity. A connection is established using a wireless adapter to create hotspots-areas in the vicinity of a wireless router that are connected to the network and allow users to access internet services. Once configured, WiFi provides wireless connectivity to your devices by emitting frequencies between 2.4GHz - 5GHz, based on the amount of data on the network.
  • WiFi provides high speed access to the internet
  • WiFi is designed to be able to access the internet from a short distance all the way up to distances roughly around 300 feet away
  • It can run a bit rate of about 600Mbps
  • It supports computers, smart phones, TVs, gaming consoles, and many more devices that access the internet
  • The security for WiFi is much better than that of bluetooth
